SCOOP Trends

June 2024

SCOOP Trends is a fresh and enticing medium that's as inviting as a scoop of ice cream on a hot summer day.
It's not just about trends; it's a new service concept offering inspiration, consultancy in aesthetics, and guidance in product design for our valued customer audience.

We divided SCOOP trends into four main topics below for your convenience. We hope you enjoy reading!

Hue Horizon

Color trends are reflecting the changing preferences and choices in color palettes and combinations used in textiles, showing modern styles, cultural influences, and what consumers want.

Earth Tones

Immersing yourself in tones inspired by the earth can bring a sense of calm and serenity. Embrace the gentle shades of pale stone, beige, and warm terracotta that echo the natural world.

By choosing all-naturalbedding in these soothing hues, you not only create a peaceful environment but also minimize costs by avoiding the need for dyeing.

These earthy tones harmonize beautifully with your decor, blending effortlessly with walls, headboards, and draperies.

Trendscape

The collective landscape of trends within a particular domain, such as fashion or textiles, encompassing the evolving styles, preferences, and influences that shape the industry’s direction and products.

Immersive Experiences

People who love unique experiences will be into feeling fully immersed in their surroundings again. The metaverse, a virtual world, will play a big part in this, mixing with natural elements to create a cool new style. Fancy lighting will let places change how they look depending on the mood or time of day.

When it comes to bedding, you can:

  • Get inspiration from the metaverse for designing immersive experiences with a digital twist.
  • Use darkness to make other senses, like taste, more noticeable, and to make a quiet and relaxing atmosphere.

Future forecast

Staying attuned to future developments is crucial for our industry and beyond, ensuring adaptability, innovation, and competitiveness in an ever-evolving market landscape.

Everyday Glimmers

Glimmers are micro-moments of good feelings (think joy, serenity or safety – the opposite of triggers), and in a world on edge, they will be an increasingly important consideration in everything from product development to branding and marketing.

The definition of luxury is changing for many. Those prioritizing small moments of peace, pleasure and serenity will seek products based on the feelings they evoke.

Elevate everyday moments into smile-makers, even on a small scale.

‘Glimmers’ is the upcoming trend for 2026.

Responsible living

In our industry, sustainability and responsible living mean using eco-friendly materials and manufacturing processes to reduce environmental impact, ensuring healthier sleeping environments for our customers.

Recycled Plastics & Color

Currently, the majority of recycled plastics originate from packaging materials, primarily PET, polyethylene (PE), and polypropylene (PP). PET waste, particularly sourced from clear water bottles, holds a distinct advantage due to its ease of coloring compared to other recycled plastics.

Furthermore, recycled polyester, derived from PET, undergoes fewer processing steps and consumes less energy during production, resulting in a notable reduction in carbon emissions.

Alternatively, an emerging approach worth exploring is chemical recycling, which eliminates additives like color pigments during processing. This method enables the reuse of plastic waste that may not be recyclable through conventional means.

Material brand Sustonable has created a collection of 100% recyclable surfaces with various applications. Mimicking classic stone finishes like marble and terrazzo, these surfaces are made from natural stone and recycled PET plastic.
Kvadrat (Denmark), known for sustainable textiles, has launched Steelcut Beat, made from 100% recycled polyester from 26 PET bottles. The fabric offers rich colors. Consider pink as a new neutral and use sustainable fabrics in retro designs.
Dutch textiles brand Vescom has launched durable upholstery made from 100% locally recycled PET bottles. They are committed to responsible production and addressing post-consumer and post-industrial waste.
LEGO has developed prototype bricks from recycled PET bottles. After three years and over 250 formulations, the material will be tested for color quality, shaping viability, and durability before a trial manufacturing run.

Did you know that BekaertDeslee is already using colored recycled yarn from plastic bottles?

By coloring the granulates, it is possible to produce colored PES yarns, which can be used to create a wide variety of new fabrics. This dope-dyed way of coloring has significantly lower environmental impacts than more traditional coloring methods.
